10.or (Pronounced Tenor) released a new variant 10.or ‘G’ to attract mid-range customers who needs a powerful smartphone yet at affordable price range just after few days of launching their value for money 10.or ‘E’ which we also reviewed very recently. We got an opportunity to review this variant also, here are our thoughts and review on the same. The unit which we received is a 4 GB variant with 64 GB storage on it, but there is a 3GB/32 GB variant also available for purchase. The 3 GB variant is priced at 10,999/- while the 4 GB one is priced at Rs. 12,999/- and its Amazon Exclusive.

Quick glance at the specifications: 10.or ‘G’ comes with a 5.5″ Full HD display and the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz and comes with Adreno 506 GPU for better gaming. The device comes in two variants of 3 GB /32 GB and 4 GB / 64 GB and the storage is expandable upto 128 GB using a micro-SD card. The attraction on this device is the rear dual camera with 13 MP + 13 MP and a 16 MP front camera with a front flash also. The device is backed with a powerful 4000 mAH battery.

Design and Build: The 10.or ‘G’s external form factor is almost the same when compared to 10.or ‘E’s design, if someone looks at the device from the front when devices kept next to each other, they can’t even make out which one is ‘E’ or ‘G’. The 10.or ‘G’ is a fully metallic unibody device and the delicate accents around the edges gives a premium look to the device. The 2.5D glass gives a sleek look also. At the bottom of the device there is a micro USB charging/data port, adjacent to which is the speaker grill under that there is dual Dirac Stereo speakers for some great audio experience. At the top of the device, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and on the left , there is a hybrid sim card slot which can either hold dual SIM cards or a SIM card + Micro SD card. On the right side of the device, there is volume rockers and as we mentioned in 10.or ‘E’ review, this device too has the odd placement of power/unlock button on the top right side and to reach to that every-time is little cumbersome. On the back side of the device, there is a dual camera located on top middle location placed in vertical fashion, adjacent to that is a dual LED flash. Above the camera there is a noise cancellation microphone and below the camera a Fingerprint scanner is placed. Fingerprint scanner is located perfectly and its reachable easily to unlock or click pictures using that. There are to antenna lines visible at the top and bottom sides on back. On the front side of the device, there is only front camera along side is a led flash and there is no capacitive touch buttons and one has to depend on the onscreen navigation buttons. We feel that almost half a inch wasted space is there at the bottom of the device doing nothing. The build quality of the device is great, but as with most of the fully metallic built devices, this one too is very slippery in hand and its really advised to buy one back cover for protection as soon as possible if anyone is willing to go for this device. Due to the slippery nature, its tough to handle the device using single hand and one should be very careful while clicking selfies etc., We accidentally dropped the phone almost two times, thankfully it didn’t fall face down, but took on the side which resulted in some dents. Also, if one loves your device and obsessed towards it, its not advised to even place the device on even a little rough surface or even a small sized particles may make a visible scratches on the back of the device due to the delicate nature of the metal used to build this device. As we adviced earlier, its better to put a back cover ASAP if you want to use it roughly. For the design and build, we give full marks except for the odd placement of power/unlock button.

Display: The 10.or ‘G’ houses a 5.5″ Full HD display protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. and has a 2.5D finish to it. The display looks great on the device and no complains with the viewing angles too. The touch sensitivity is good as well as the response time is great. Also, the colors on the device is bright and vivid even under the sunlight which is commendable. Watching videos and playing HD games on this device gives a pretty neat experience.  We don’t see any issues or concerns with the display whatsoever and we give full marks to the same.

Hardware and Performance:  As we mentioned in the quick glance of specs, this device is powered by a decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. The performance is smooth and lag free even while multiple application running in the background.  Switching between the screens is fast and we didn’t observe any slowness or heating issues while playing games and entertainment content for long hours.  We could play HD games with the quality set to high with ease and didn’t observe any lag which is commendable. Also, playing videos upto Full HD quality is flawless. We cannot push the device to play content with more resolution than that.  Call quality is decent and the external speaker output is also pretty good for a room of 10 x 10″ . The fingerprint of the device also works faster and we could unlock or click pictures pretty fast. The device has around 1 GB free RAM on an average at any point of time for application usage which is pretty decent.  The 64 GB storage is enough for an average power user for storing few movies and install heavy games/applications. Antutu benchmark scores of this device is 63222 which is almost close and even higher than the competitor phones like Redmi Note 4, Mi A1, Moto G5 S Plus etc.,

Camera:  The highlight of the device is the 13MP + 13 MP real dual-camera with PDAF, f/2.0 and dual-tone LED flash. The RGB and mono sensors render a pretty detailed image and the creating the pictures with bokeh effects is just great on this device even with the night shots.  The output of the pictures are pretty clear and gives perfect color outputs. The camera app is pretty basic and comes with certain standard set of modes like HDR, night, portrait, landscape, sports, flowers, panorama etc, Also, comes with some basic filters like Mono, Sepia, Aqua and Sketch. One can shoot upto a Full HD video and nothing beyond that. There is no slow motion or time lapse features available on this camera. Of course, a user can choose their own ISO, exposure, while balance etc., using the camera which is good. Apart from that there is nothing fancy about the camera application. There is a beautify feature available to manually tinker with the real face.  The pictures taken using front camera is quite good even under the low light, thanks to the front flash and its little annoying also with front flash that it blurs your eyes for few moments when you click the selfies in close range under dark conditions. Overall, in camera department, this device is a decent performer and the dual-camera is indeed a good add-on for a device at this price range.

Software and Features: The 10.or ‘G’ comes with Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box and it gives a pure android experience. There is no other tinkering done with the software except it comes with a Amazon widget for personalized deals, shopping application, prime video and Amazon Kindle applications with Single Sign On access which gives quick access to your content, order history, shipment updates, etc., Being an Amazon exclusive device, this much software add-on’s are definitely acceptable.  One can install any third party launcher applications and themes and customize their phone as per their wish on 10.or ‘G’.  There is no fancy or gimmicky features embedded on this device which in turn improves the performance of the device also. The UI is snappy and the company has promised the latest Android updates including ‘Oreo’ ASAP on these devices which is much expected by a power users and its commendable if company sticks to its promises of the update releases.  The another add-on software which we would like to highlight is the 10.or Care app which is powered by ‘Servify’ which is very useful to get after sales support, an user can directly contact customer support via that application to report any issues with the devices and for support which is pretty good and as service is the first priority looked upon by the user from the companies, 10.or ‘G’ has covered the base pretty solidly in this regard by giving priority to the service. Few things which one can do using 10.or Care app is the self diagnosis of different parts on the device using custom method or full diagnosis using the application directly and also report any issue to customer care directly via app. The self diagnosis works great and even a novice user can test the functionality of the different components on their device. Also, the app automatically checks the warranty status of the device which is great too.

Battery: The 10.or ‘G’ comes with a  4000 mAh Li-ion polymer battery which is really a great thing to have on this device. It stays on for up-to 2 days with moderate usage of telephone calls and all the social media networks/email accounts  in automatic sync mode with 4G network always on and also with dual-SIM cards on it.  During continuous playback of the Full HD video with brightness set to maximum, we got 9 hours of Screen on time which is really good.  One need not worry about carrying their charger or power-bank for the long train journeys etc.,  There are no heating issues on the battery even for prolonged usage which is commendable too. It takes upto 3-4 hours of time for completely charging the battery from 0 to 100%. Overall, we are pretty satisfied with the battery backup and its performance.

Conclusion: 10.or ‘G’ has all the right things and 10.or has definitely have done deep analysis of Indian market and the mentality of the users in India before launching their line up of products like 10,or ‘E’ and 10.or ‘G’ . This device is definitely value for money for the hardware and specifications which it offers at this price range and if you are a power user and love the stock android and future updates of Android versions, this device is definitely a great buy for you. If the company sticks to their promise of the regular updates to the device and provides great after sales support, they have a long run in Indian Smartphone market and could become a worthy challenger in this market.
