In the new and more open smartphone market, the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Huawei Honor 6 are two impressive contenders of the affordable flagship segment. Both the smartphones bring a wealth of features, but are priced around the mid-price range of Rs 20,000. These devices offer the flagship features that the brand-name juggernauts like HTC, Samsung or LG, are still offering only in the premium range.
The Huawei Honor 6 has been in the Indian market from quite a while now, and the Xiaomi Mi 4 is all set to reach Indian shores by the end of January 2015. Both the smartphones are direct competitor from every single angle. Let’s compare the features of these phones to find out which one is the best.

Xiaomi Mi 4 vs Huawei Honor 6: Design and display

In terms of design and looks, the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Huawei Honor 6 look the same. Both the devices sport a unibody design with chrome tipped sides and a glossy rear panel. However, the Honor 6 weighs less than the Mi 4 and is slimmer by 1.4mm.
Both the smartphones are loaded with 5-inch full HD IPS LCD displays. The Mi 4 offers a One Glass Solution based screen with a coating of Corning Concore glass, and a pixel density of 441ppi. The Honor 6 on the other hand has the advantage of better resolution display with a jam-packed pixel density of 445ppi. Also its screen gets an anti-fingerprint oleo phobic coating. So, both in display and design segment, the Huawei Honor 6 is slightly better offering than the Mi 4.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM. The Huawei Honor 6 on the other hand is fuelled by the company’s in-house octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 920 processor, working in tandem with 3GB of RAM. Both the smartphones offer smooth lag-free gaming performance. In the performance segment, both the devices are powerful beasts, so it’s hard to decide a winner here.

Xiaomi Mi 4 vs Huawei Honor 6: Storage and Connectivity

In the storage segment, they have their ups and downs. Talking about the Mi 4 first, the smartphone comes in 16GB and 64GB internal memory variants, which is non-expandable. The Honor 6 on the other hand has only to offer 16GB of internal storage, though it can be further expanded by another 64GB.
In terms of connectivity, both the devices have a few similar options including 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, and Wi-Fi Direct. However, the Xiaomi Mi 4 gets a lot of connectivity features, which make it a winner over the Honor 6 in this segment. The Mi 4’s other connectivity options include USB OTG, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Infrared, USB 2.0, and TV-out via MHL.

Xiaomi Mi 4 vs Huawei Honor 6: Camera

The Mi 4 and Honor 6, both are equipped with 13MP rear cameras. However, the Xiaomi Mi 4 wins over the Honor 6 with its 4K video recording capability and hardware-level HDR. The Mi 4 offers better low-light photography experience, speedy HRD images, and faster autofocus speeds. Also, the Mi 4 carries an 8MP front-facing selfie snapper, better than the 5MP unit available in the Honor 6.
The Huawei Honor 6 is priced at Rs 19,999, while the Mi 4 is expected to go on sale for around Rs 22,000. Overall, from the value-for-money perspective, the Huawei Honor 6 wins over the Mi 4. However, with the Xiaomi Mi 4 you get better camera features, most of the connectivity options available, and higher internal storage, for a slightly higher price tag. Choice is yours!
